Excursion: Australian Environments
Students will visit the Australian Garden and Conservation Zone to explore the diversity of Australian landscapes and the plants and animals that live within them. They will investigate how living things are adapted to survive in different environments, including bushland and aquatic ecosystems.
Throughout the excursion, students will handle and examine natural materials such as seed pods, skulls and scats, and learn how these help us understand food chains and animal life. They will also explore the health and biodiversity of aquatic environments and discuss how factors such as climate, water and soil shape Australia’s unique landscapes.
This hands-on experience links to Science and Geography curriculum areas (Levels 3–6 / 5–6), with a focus on ecosystems, habitats and plant adaptations.
