Sick Bay

CFPS sick bay is located in the school admin building and is run by registered nurses.

Anaphylaxis, Allergies and Asthma

At CFPS all students with an allergy, anaphylaxis or asthma require an action plan completed by a doctor, a student health support plan and medication to be provided to the school.

All students with asthma require a spacer to be provided with their Salbutamol.

If your child’s action plan or medication has expired you will be contacted to provide replacements.

All expired medication will be discarded unless you notify CFPS otherwise.

Nuts

We recommend not packing nuts in your child’s lunch box as some students have severe allergies to nuts.

We recommend that these foods are kept at home for special afternoon teas rather than sent to school in lunch boxes.

These items include;

  • Peanut butter in any form (sandwiches, dips)
  • Nutella in any form (sandwiches, dips)
  • Hazelnut spreads
  • Bars that contain nuts as a main ingredient eg. Picnic, Snickers, Muesli Bars, Honey & Nut bars
  • Cakes and Biscuits with nuts
  • Mixed nuts
  • Chocolate covered nuts

Head bumps

Parents will receive a curtesy call if their child has received a head bump.

You will be asked to collect your child following a head bump depending on the mechanism of the head injury, if the injury is significant, if a headache is present or the student has vomited.

We recommend following the RCH guide for head injuries.

Unwell

Please do not send students to school if they are unwell including a cold, flu, vomiting or diarrhea.

If your child vomits at school, you will be asked to collect them early and they may require to stay home the following day.

Students are required to stay home for 24 hours following a vomit.

Headlice

CFPS will do a visual inspection of your child’s hair if head lice is suspected.

If head lice/ eggs are seen a letter will be sent home with the student regarding treatment and the student will be unable to return to school until this letter has been filled in returned and treatment completed.

You will receive a phone call informing you of the above and given the opportunity to collect your child immediately from school to start the treatment process.

If another student in your child’s year level has been confirmed to have headlice, a compass post will be sent out advising you to check your child hair and start treatment if required.

Regular medications

We like to encourage medications be given to your child at home before or after school however we realise this is not always possible.

In the case you require your child to receive medication at school we require a medication authority form to me completed and the medication to be provided in the original box with the pharmacy label identifying the child on it.
